Jaguar E-Types tussling on track at the Goodwood Revival
It’s been a big year for the E-Type Jaguar. Despite still being probably the most iconic car ever made it’s finally reached middle-age, with the big 5-0 arriving in March at Geneva. Understandably, Jaguar has made the most of the anniversary of the E-Type by rolling out E-Types at every event they could, but perhaps the most appropriate event for the E-Type to headline at has been this weekend’s Goodwood revival, a veritable cornucopia of nostalgic and historic motoring goodness.

First unveiled back in 2000, Honda’s Asimo humanoid robot has taken literal steps, hops and jumps forward since its introduction - and the most recent incarnation made its European debut this week. This new, smarter Asimo can now recognise multiple faces and voices of people simultaneously, and can think on the move. It’s now clever enough to change course to avoid a collision with another moving object.
Here’s Peugeot’s salvo in the fight to make cars more economical: the 208 Hybrid FE. The supermini concept can achieve a claimed average of 112mpg (and a maximum of 141mpg), and emits only 49g/km of CO2. Peugeot is especially keen to point out it’s a conventionally shaped supermini with five seats, unlike VW’s own super-frugal XL1, which looks decidedly sci-fi in comparison, but has a smaller boot than a Ferrari 458…
The 208 FE is 25% slipperier and 20% lighter than a regular 208, but that’s only part of the reason it allegedly achieves such eye-opening numbers at the pumps.
